Beginning of each year is a great time and place to start with a "blank canvas". It is an opportunity to release and let go of everything negative that does not serve us anymore and bring into our lives things that create love, kindness, appreciation, joy, gratitude, peace and anything that puts us into a state of higher vibration.
We spend majority of our time living in subconscious state. That means that everything we have learned is stored in our brain on autopilot so that we can move through our day without having to relearn the process. Our brain is optimized to make subconscious decisions based on previous emotions attached to our experiences. Since our subconscious mind has no awareness it holds us captive to unhealthy behavior. This is why we get stuck in a pattern of the same thoughts, feelings and actions and find it so hard to change them by our conscious mind. This is why a lot of people do not change. We get stuck in our world thinking that we were "made" this way and there is nothing we can do to change it. We find all different kinds of reasons why we behave a certain way and why we can't change, such as for example "It is my father's fault , my colleague made me frustrated, my partner makes me feel guilty, my job is making me sad",....
But what if there is a way to move from being a victim to feeling empowered to change your life? The practice of making our subconscious mind so conscious, so present and so aware is the way to break from a cycle of negative thinking to a new mode of positive thinking and happy life. The practice of living consciously in the present moment, unlearning and reconditioning our mind will bring us the freedom to be who we want to be. And meditation is a powerful tool to get us to this place. I know, you will say, I can't meditate, I do not have the time to meditate, I do know how to meditate. It is easier than you think. It does not have to be an hour meditation. All you need is 15-20 minutes of your time each day. Make it a habit, just like brushing your teeth, eating breakfast or driving to work. If you do this process every day for 30 days, you not only change your thoughts, your relationships, your world but you also strengthen your immune system, change your genes and more.
And no, the process of change is not easy and it does not happen overnight. But a good way to start is to realize that you "want to change".
